carb messing with me. need ideas

Default carb messing with me. need ideas
cant get color on spark plugs. either white or black. 88 twin cam with cv carb. has high flow air filter, 48 pilot jet, stock main jet. dealer told me to turn enrichment screw in til it runs shitty then back off 1/4 turn. didn't work.either black or white plugs no matter where I adjust it.

have you pulled the float bowl and made sure there is nothing clogging your jets?

yah. I pulled jet out and it was already 48. so I just went ahead and put new 48 jet in. runs good but plugs don't get color. concerned because I have heard horror stories about lean engines

turn air fuel in till it lightly touches and then back out 2 full turns to 2 2/2 turns . new fuel with ethanol is very hard to do plug read because it burns cleaner

you say the carb is messing with you. What did you do just before you noticed this problem? I mean is the bike running bad? Making funny noises? Sorry but i cant help without a little more info on whats going on.

TC's run nearly white as stock and you'll need to shim the needle to get any colour.
