I'm going to be doing cams next year,I'm going with the SE 204 cam,it was also said that I should put adjustable push rods in as well,is this nessecary.I'm not trying to save money if it's in my best interest to do this then I will, but just wondering what other guys have done with their cams.
Yes adjustable push rods are what you want or you will have to pull off your heads in order to uninstall and reinstall the existing ones. The adjustables make the job way easier.

Heads don't need to come off. I'm in the process of doing a cam and I'm going thru the top cause I have a rocker box leak. Taking the tank and rocker boxes is no big deal for me (done many times), but, it's extra work and quick install (not all adjustables) rods will eliminate that...I'll re-use everything other than o rings, gaskets, cam bearings, and of course the the cams.
Great, thanks for the quick replies guys, can't wait til next year so I can finally get my bike to where I want it,this should have been the year but I'm getting married in Sept and the wife says I'll have to wait til next year, may as well start getting used to it,lol.

Adjustable pushrods are a contentious issue. I don't recommend them because I have seen too many come loose while the motor is running.
Taking the tank off is no biggie and I like the peace of mind that comes with the stock pushrods. There is a way of making the job quicker by only removing the two right hand rocker gear bolts, slipping the rocker shafts out and then emptying the lifters before reassembly. I use it everytime.
I put my 204's in thru the top. Not a big deal. I didn't want the maintenance issue of the adjustable ones. Besides gives you a good look at the breathers in the heads. The adjustables are 150 or so also.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by removing the right hand rocker gear bolts. Sounds interesting tho. BTW how do you like the TW26's?

Too bad you have to wait til next year. I'll be selling some of the necessary tools in a few weeks.
