I think my new Street Bob corners even worse than my previous FXST softail & 2FXD's; especially right handers grinding away the exhaust & mounts. We don't have straight roads around So. Oregon so if you are not leaning these Harley's you are holding up traffic on our mountain (all) roads. (Such goes our infamous HOG chapter rides) I realize this isn'tmy Buell, but are there any quality/performanceexhaust systems that fit tighter up into the bike that allow moderate lean angles? I have already ordered a pair of WP shocks to help as well and looking at stiffer fork springs that won't mush out too to help. Thanks.
When I pulled off the SE 2 's I used to have on my bike, and then re-attached them, I noticed that I lost cornering clearance. I had inadvertantly angled them down slightly and rotated the slip ons so the bolts & mountswere contacting the ground. These two things made a pretty big difference.Have a look at where the contact is being made and then you couldloosen up the brackets and the slip ons and re-align to give you more clearance maybe.
I assume you wound upyour preload as well, wich will increase your cornering clearance. You should be scraping pegs before you scrape your exhaust system.
When Ireally want to get through the corners I shift my weight and drop my shoulder to the inside, which feels wierd on cruiser. Of course you can't hang off the bike like a sports bike, but it's surprising how much quicker you can take the same corners with the same lean angle when youmove the centre of gravity.
Good advise above. However, I was grinding my SE IIs down all the time.
Better ground clearance was a big issue when I changed to V&H Pro Pipe 2-1, and I haven't come close to scraping it on my dyna anymore. When I looked into D&Ds, the Fat Fats look like they angled down, but Borzilla angled up. Just went with V&H and am happy.
