I didn't have any problems removing the old baffles. Didn't take off the SEII's either, just kept them on. Once I removed the two bolts, I sprayed some WD-40 in there around the perimeter, used a pair of needlenose pliers and just pulled the old baffles out. The slid out very easily.

May be a dumb question but are there any baffles available that can be used on the factory pipes that will make them sound better but not a lot louder?
Not a dumb question. If you're referring to the stock slip-on mufflers, I don't know of any aftermarket inserts. Looking at my stock 06's, it looks like it would be a major pain to get the baffles out.
FWIW, I had no problem gettingthe bafflesout of the SE-2 slip-ons but they only had a couple of thousand miles on them.
I checked my original mufflers and I don't think there's anyway to change the baffles in them. There's no bolts or screws from the outside. It looks like the factory mufflershave the baffleswelded in there so I guess theoretically one could change the baffles but they would have to be cut up in some way.
