Have you made a decision on cams yet? As far as build up on the pistons that's what they usually look like. Don't route your breathers into the intake like most high flows do. Run hoses to a catch can or something, it will be almost spotless. Running hot air and oil into your intake is not good for anything.

Id like to run a catch can ill have to look into it more, as far as new cams I cant afford to purchase a new set right now unless I sell off the old set first or save up..

I used rustoleum lens tint, works pretty good and if you spray it too thick u can wipe it off with a rag and gas.

***updated***

I got my heads back from Wink Eller, they look good but like I said its only mild headwork as its what I could barely afford.

I installed the pistons and cylinders tonight and checked the deck height, they were at a solid .010"

im tossing the idea of running a .030 head gasket vs the .040 gasket that came in the big bore kit. anyone think its worth the extra 50 bux?

Its a hell of a lot easier to do it now than to do it later, but you already know that.

Doesn't the thicker gasket wear out sooner? I thought the thicker it was, the sooner you'd need to do a rebuild. Not sure on that info tho...

**UPDATE**

well I made some progress the last two nights, ive only been getting about an hr a night to work on this but I should have it finished and running thru heat cycles tonight.

I installed the heads and ended up using the .040 gaskets and not the .030 gaskets(long story)

installed the rockers, push rods and throttle body, tonight ill be connecting all the wiring, tank, exhaust etc and fire her up. I ended up selling the quarter fairing and will be running the rifle again until I find a decent fxdxt fairing.
