Wow!! Lot of good ideas. I just always used a razor blade to get stuff off pipes. It is time consuming but works great.

Outcast...What is "road rub"? Where did you get it and is that the actual name? Thanks for the info.

I will be sure to post some before and after pix and let you all know what worked...hopefully something works. It makes me ill to look at (or even think about) those pipes.

I've had several stupid moments with hot pipes. I usually scrape what I can off with a vinyl scrapper...and then use steel wool and WD40. Always works for me. I just did this a couple weeks ago actually when my dumbass decided to mess around on the bike with my lounge around the house pants on. Too many shots of whiskey I suppose. But I ran the bike and let it burn on so it would get hard. Scrapped what I could with the vinyl scrapper, and then hit it with some WD40 and steel wool. Everything came off and it looks just like new.

Oddly enough I got this from the dealer. And yes that is actually the name. I caught hell when I brought it back to work lol.

+1 on the Never Dull, that stuff works wonders. Also as mentioned before WD40 and 0000 steel wool work great. Both are very cheap options.

I've been using Gumout carb cleaner and elbow grease to get burned boot off my heat shield.

How about a nickel. Yea the one in your pocket. Jut don't use too much pressure, and older ones work better.

Acetone might work.
