I can't speak for the 02s, but for mine (06), removal of the old one is easy. Just unbolt the two bolts on the console, and the leather panel is held on by two studs under the console, and a tight washer/clip (don't really know what that's called). You have to pry the clip off with a screwdriver, but it's no big deal. Getting the clip back on when you're installing the new tank panel is a little more difficult...but if you can get the console all the way off (or most of the way off), it's easy. You just don't have a lot of room to work if you only lift the console up and not completely out.
Once again...this is for an 06...not sure if 02s are the same.

Thanks Todd! I also did a little searching here and found that I might also have to remove the seat. Don't ask me why but I've always loved the little leather pouches! After buying my WG, I can store all of my remaining assests in it!
