Mine is just glued down, take a small putty knife or something and gently pry up the corner then pull 'er off. I've had mine off then back on again without any problem.

Just like Dawg said. I have also seen some leather tank inserts that have been actually secured with fasteners. In order to that,it needs to be removed and drilled if you want to go that far. Find a good glue and maybe rough up the back side of the leather to improve adhesion.
