Just gotta '05' Wide Glide 2 weeks ago and love it.
Anyways I'm thinking of putting on SEII slip-on mufflers.
Question is do I need to have the dealership remap the EFI controller?
And, If so, should I do the SEII intake as well and just get remap once for both?
p.s.- Havn't stopped yet to break out the digicam for pics
You need a remap for the Intake, but not for just the exhaust. It's the same remap (1) for both and only done once for both. It's worth it to get both the intake and exhaust done at the same time and have the remap done then and you're finished.
Just got a 05 Wide Glide also. I put on Vance and Hines Straightshot Hs's. Didn't do ANY downloads. I bought a Power Commander 3. For $260. Both downloads are $280. (Here in NY, anyway, $140 each). I download the maps from the web site, and I am done. When I change cams, I get a new map. I can also go down to the Dyno jet center and let them tune it in actual running conditions. I can also make my own maps on my computer. Just my 2 cents.
Also if you use a Power Commander or similar product you can always convert the bike back to stock and sell the aftermarket products separate from the bike if you want to.
