I have a 2008 WideGlide 9,000 miles V & H short shots and A Big Sucker air Kit . The bike has had a re-map . I,m going to do cams this summer and will need a tuner . Looking at Thundermax Auto ? (Any good) The thing I do like it does away with the H-D computer all together and that can,t be a bad thing .
The Thundermax auto is $850.00 or so and I may just go to a carb and forget the tuner altogether ?
There has been some issues with cobra with their electronics...Kinda depends what your plans are for your bike and how much you want to mess around with it.
For 850 bucks you could have a great tuner and have it dyno'ld into perfections.
I split the cost on a TTS 2 bike tuner with my brother (he wanted his bike tuned too)
250 each plus 300 for the dyno is 550 total. Dropped it off in the morning, picked it up late afternoon...perfect, no fuss, just ride.
Carbs will not perform like FI bikes, but they will still perform should you choose to go that way.
850$ sounds like a lot of money but I don't think the thundermax has to piggyback once your happy with the tune.
The same goes for a power vision but at 500$ and unlimited maps and support from Jamie @ fuelmoto you can't go wrong no matter how many times you change stuff on your bike.
I would almost bet you will get rid of those S-Shot muffs first if you are into performance!
Some times I just smile when people put Harley and performance together . I don,t think I would ever pay for a Dyno tune . The Short Shots are just fine and not go anyplace . It,s a Harley kind of like a John Deere two banger .

I bought a Harley because I can and I do like the bike . My first Harley was in about 1962 so I kind of like the H-D . I think this one is number seven or eight .
The way I understand it the Thundermax goes around the HD EMC .
