Not trying to "stir the pot" but I feel like I see a lot of dissatisfied customers when it comes to this particular shock. There's a lot of posts about spending the coin on these, then getting a pair of Works, Ricors or Ohlins instead...

I mean, per dollar, if you paid full price for the Progressive 444's ($629 plus tax/shipping), vs Works $620 shipped, it seems like Works would win.

I guess I'm debating if $400 for the 444's would outweigh the couple extra hundred for a way better shock.

To be fair and ballanced reporting you would have to personally tried both back to back and form an opinion. I have not and most have not so it would be nice to hear from someone that has. You can find the prog 444 for $450 and they are fully adjustable so I cant see paying $600+ for Richo's or whatever's when Im very happy with the 444.

True...anyone know the difference between "standard" and "heavy duty"? I'm a light guy, but I like to ride hard. I wonder if heavy duty would be too stiff...

200 lb person is standard shock. HD shock is for 2 up & heavyyy people. The std shock and 200 lb person is still a firm ride at minimal settings. Std has plenty room for adding weight.---- #1 reason for not liking a shock is they buy Heavy Duty... Also shorter than stock = harder ride... Go 1/2 inch shorter than stock and still get a fairly slick look and still ride nize.

Thanks!

I actually updated the thread this morning. I noticed that one of the shocks has a VERY small scuff on the top from pushing in the shock eyelets. It is barely noticeable, but can be hidden away very easily by running that side inboard to the bike.

Price has been dropped to $385 shipped.

Sorry for the thread hi-jack...

Glad you still like them!

I was originally going with the 430 from DCP, but upgraded to the 444. No looking back.
They are a great set of shocks!
I paid under $500 from DCP.

The 430 is a nice shock as well. quite a bit cheaper $. Search for 128auto, he posted a review on them or PM him. He will give you an honest opinion.

I had the Progressive 412 HD before, the HD spring is for 250lbs and up. At 165lbs, the springs did not move when I sat on the bike, when I hit a bump my butt flew in the air, and if I hit a bump while cornering fast, I went into a death wobble. If I was to get the 412 again or any other shock for that matter, I would only get the standard spring for me.

The 444 gives a nice smooth ride at a comfortable price.
