Default Progressive 444's

Can anyone tell me the improvement from the stock shocks of a Dyna to these Progressive 444s? I know there are better, but don't think they are worth the extra money.

The stock ones seem bouncing as hell. I dropped some V-Rod 13" on but they are fairly stiff as hell. The Progressive 444's look to run about $562, but if they are a significant improvement I will go that route. It is a Harley so I am not trying to spend more than that because I don't see the point, but I am looking for something taller and much better.

I have Progressive springs up front. There are some older 440's on Ebay for about $440. They use some different terminology about the dampening, but may be equally as good.

What are you basing that logic on?
Some are happy with the progressive shock but most aren't. If your going to spend that kinda mony, you should get a shock that is custom made for your weight and riding style. Look at werks, ricor, ect. before you order a "off the shelf, one size fits all" shock

Based on the value of the bike and how it's normally used. I just can't see putting more money than that into it.

I have the 444 and they ride great. I bought mine for about $500. miles better than stock. Cant see paying more for custom built shocks because the weight you cary can change and all you need to do to the 444 is twist the adjuster. Mine are set minimal. All this custom built for your weight is a sales gimic but whatever you buy into.

Yeah I've been on the fence about new shocks (and can't swing the money right now) but I've been researching. That's pretty much the last major thing my bike needs. I really want Works, everyone swears by them. I see the advantages, but I really want an easily changeable "on the go" adjustment. I ride by myself 99% of the time, but if I get something made to my weight, and I decide to load up the bags for a tripwith the wife I'm f-ked the entire time? Usually the quick adjust hand-crank feature is on the $1000 and up shocks. I'm never dropping $1000 on shocks...

Progressive 444 need no tools, just twist by hand.

Yep. I leave mine on the first line for solo riding and then run it out to the fourth line for 2 up. Takes about 30 seconds
