Dealer has it listed for $14,300. It has 1500 miles on it. I'm looking to trade my 06 883r in which is KBBd at $3300 roughly. I'm thinking 9k cash in hand might take it. Good deal or not? Looks like it has V n Hines straight shots, windshield, sissy bar and luggage rack.

Well I think they are a bit high on the price because I paid about $14,800 for mine brand new including a 5 year extended warranty for under $500 plus got 30-40% off on some upgrade parts. That was December 2012.
My counter before trade would be in the 12's with an extended warranty included. That way with your trade you should be out the door in the 8's.
I bet you would get it for 9K in cash. Find out if it has a fuel tuner or maybe a SE ac under the ac cover. If the ac cover does not have that black scoop looking part on the inside of the chrome - then it should be a Stage 1 SE ac. All those extras add up to make it a better deal. I think I would start at $8500 in cash, you can always go up if you need to. Good luck, I love my 2012 Fat Bob.

If you do buy it you will love it! I sold my 09 VRSCF for a 2010 Fat Bob and love it. It doesn't have the power that the Muscle had but is a better bike in every other regard. Ride, comfort, handling, fuel mileage (Vrod was brutal) and looks like a real Harley!!
Enjoy....
Look up the KBB on that bike trade in value? And that is where you can figure what the dealer gave the person when they traded it in. So considering the dealer needs to make some money on it? That would be your starting point!
I would offer seven, dealers never pay you on your trade with mods, so why would you pay them. I paid 16300 for a 2103 Fat Bob, that is 800 over MSRP, and you know they still made money on me. they act like it was the best deal ever, they are never losing money on bikes. Play hardball even if you have to walk away, I would also go to other Harley dealers, let them fight for your dollar.
"NO BIKE has the ride or looks of a Sportster. After all the Sportster is the Original Harley Davidson Motorcycle."
I guess the average man was indeed smaller at the turn of the century!
Buying used from a dealer is not a great idea. they offered me "theoretically" 9000$ for a '08 fatbob that had 30k miles in 2011 I paid 16,200$ out the door for in '07. I saw an '09 a few weeks ago with 40k miles they were asking 14,800$. so in linear time they want 6000$ more than they offered me for a bike that is respectively 1 year older and 10k extra miles. They could only have offered that guy 8k$
I guess that's a long way of telling you your better of buying from a private sale

First thing you have to remember is as soon as the original owner drove it off the lot the dealer knocks at least 2000$ off buy back. it is registered and considered a used vehicle. Eve if you pull a U-turn and go straight back in. You can definitely deal him down. How much will be up to your dealing skill. Start low and feel him out <----( oh that didn't sound right!)

You paid over msrp, Yeah I'd say they made money! They already get their percentage at plain msrp, the rest is gravy!
