Hi was wondering first time owing a dyna they guy i bought it from said he had all the oils recently changed at the dealer while i went to check the oil on the jiffy stand cold the level says full and my understanding is when u check it cold it should be halfway in between the 2 marks so should i remove some oil?the dealer over filled it?Thanks in advance
Btw the bike has vance and hines short shots getting the oil dip out is pretty tight really close to the pipe checking it hot would be interesting lol.

That's the right way to check. A hot check kinda confirms whether its overfull.
If the cold check is at the full line then there's too much in there and there's the risk it will be spat out of head breathers.
Thanks will do nice to know a harley dealer cant fill to the right level well atleast when its time for an oil change i will do it my self and i will know its done right
cold check should be full. hot check lower. cold, all the oil is in the pan. not up in the motor. I think, but could be wrong. Better mechs then me will help I'm sure.
If you follow the manual it likely says cold should be in the middle of 1 & 3. Then ride till engine is hot and check level again. Add oil till it is at full hot level.
Next time you check it cold the level will be a lot closer to 3 than 2.
the harley dealer always seems to overfill the oil. I asked them why they do that and they replied, the more oil the better. Last time they ever worked on my bike
