Brand New Harley here! Exhaust Question
But this is very important. SLV, you wrote this. "You could stage 1, live with just a map and save the dyno money for later."
What does live with a map entail? Is that a remap of my bikes computer? Who does that? What does that entail? How much$?
Thanks for the info, SLV...

I somewhat disagree with Rooti's assessment of the black. It's totally true for engine cases and other rough surfaces, but my black Pro-Pipe can be cleaned in seconds with a damp cloth followed by furniture polish.
Antonio
There are many options to get a good tune without a dyno.
Downloaded HD map from the dealer.
Multiple types of tuners with downloadable maps.
Tuners with auto-tune options.
The cost can range between $150 to $800.
From an exhaust note point of view the Pro Pipe is in a league of its own. Heard them in Florida this Spring and just stood there until the guy accelerated away so I sould hear them under a load. Really deep, throaty and just loud enough. I will probably just ride the bike stock and when I am ready to part with another $2800 just do the whole deal.
BTW what will doing the cams, pipe, a/c and dyno do to the new bike warranty? Definitely a consideration.

BTW OP: Welcome!
Don't even ask me about huge *** thick two-up seats! They freak me out just to see them on a Dyna!
It's just my OCD, but I can't get past curved pipes on a Harley. The fashion started with the Yamaha Warrior and kind of took off from there. Somehow I just associate them with Japanese bikes. The pipes are very popular and people like them. That's the important thing. I have the same issue with the ThunderHeader and SuperTrapp because their styled like a Brit bike pipe. Like I said, I'm a bit OCD, so my opinions don't count!

I have the Vance & Hines Big Shots installed on my 2012 Street Bob, and I absolutely love them. They sound wickedly good and have a nice, deep sound to them. They have a power chamber between the two pipes that make for great bottom end compared to my dad's 2010 Wide Glide with the Big Radius pipes. It feels like mine pulls harder on bottom end than my dad's, but I think his pulls slightly harder on the top end. Also, we both have a Stage 1 tune and the same Screamin' Eagle Heavy Breather air cleaner, the only difference is the pipes.

Thanks for the input guys. I'll most likely go for the looks of the 2-2 pipes. I went for a ride this afternoon and paid attention to my rpms. I guess I don't really lug the thing around as much as I thought. Anything under 2000 rpms feels like your starting to lug it. I guess I ride from a range of 2200 to 3500 is what I found today. Great bike tho! I came from a power house of a bike an 116hp 1986 Honda V65 Magna mscle cruiser. I miss my old bike, but very pleased with this street bob. I think I`ll have many good years on it. Thanks for the input! I`ll be sure to keep ya posted on what I end up doing.
