Who's running FLT shocks? What PSI are you running? I installed a set of 2012 FLT 13" shocks, and I want to get some input on what PSI to start at. I put 50psi and it seemed to harsh, I weigh 250#. I blew out one of my FXDX shocks and put air shocks on until the $'s are more abundant.
50 psi is about right if the shocks are in good working order.
I weight about 190lb and after lots lots of time and trials in the canyons,I settled at 50psi. My buddy Max at 230 lbs is also right around 50psi. He spent a little more time fine tuning than I did last winter. I could ask him what he ended up with at the end being that he is a little closer to your weight if you like.
He and his bike should be returning from Italy any time soon.
Get some independent fill valves on these shocks (syringe type if you like) fill the shocks with your desired pressure of nitrogen its been around 50 for the ones I did... and you will have and inexpensive set of good performing shocks.
factory bagger air shocks come with 5wt oil.. for the design of the dyna frame you really need to change that out for 10wt.. once that is done you should need no more than about 25lbs at your weight...
as an example after changing the shock oil...
i weigh 160 and run 18-22 solo and with my wife on the back, combined weight of around 290lbs we run 25lbs
