Lol.. Someday. I don't do enough trips yet for a touring bike but trust me, a street glide is in my future!

I ran into the same dilemma and ended up buying new. I liked the the black parts and no tail light on the '13 so it was a no brainer for me.... Mods alone saved enough to justify the '13

New:
Pros.
Some extra black (fork lowers, triple tree, other black through H-D1.)
103 motor available
Warranty available
You know where it's been.
Color choice
'12 and '13 models have CanBUS wiring (more reliable in theory.)
'12 and '13 models have normal risers (more bar selection.)

Cons.
Cost
No free mods other than what the dealer might throw in.

Used.
Pros.
Cheaper.
Might already have mods.

Cons.
You don't know where it's been.
2006 models have some unique issues.
You can really get some good deals in the used market. It depends on you and how you plan to maintain it. Personally, I like the warranty and know-where-it's-been factor. Others might be wrapped around the axle over a couple thousand bucks.

Oh yeah, 2up, even though that wasn't your question, is relatively the same on all Dyna models. The stock seat are different, but they usually go away anyway.

I love my Wide Glide. But I'm on the same road as you. I'm just a few blocks ahead. So do yourself a favor. Go ahaead and get the geezer-glide now.

Yess, the street glide has the most functionality but remember, it's a whole different ride. You wont be riding like you were on your sporty. A Dyna will give you that big twin power and lets you stretch out a little more plus you still have that agile bike through the turns and traffic, unlike a touring bike.

Took that path 2 years ago, loved my Nightster, miss it, but the switchback has made our getaways much more comfortable and given us more storage. Obviously all Dynas have the same chassis so room is the same in general, but due to seat, bars, foot controls they will fit differently. Take a look at rear fender widths, not sure how they vary, I feel that seat width is important for comfort, especially for the none dainty. I have a HD signature seat that gives my gal a comfy 12" wide seat and the large backrest looks more natural on the switchback than on the more slimmed down models. The switchback has upgraded suspension, not that it couldn't be improved, but two up width preload set at 3 it's pretty good. It's not the sexiest dyna, but for me I never saw a dyna front end I liked until the switchback.

Thanks al, I appreciate it. I think I've decided on buying new, going to talk to the dealer and see if there will be a price diff on 13 vs 14 or if there will be any changes since its getting close to the 2014 coming out. Either way, I'm getting anxious.

Best option on used/new question is to find a few dealers within a few hundred miles of you and see who has a new fat bob 2013 because now until new 2014's come out(sept/oct) there will be a sweet discount on the 2013. Trust me, I did it twice.

This time of year you could expect to pay an out the door price that is very near the msrp alone. Msrp on my latest bike was $16,800. I paid $17,000 out the door. If buying new, now's the time to do it
