Just read about 6 or so threads in the search area about some related problems but not exactly what I am experiencing. Bike is a 2006 SB with 3500 miles stage 1 AC, Python Staggered Duals, and Harley Stage 1 Download. Bike has run flawless with the exception of a little pop here and there if you let off the gas and let it Decellerate in gear.
Today it happened about 3 times to me, twice with 1/4 tank of fuel once with full tank. Bike takes off and its like someone closed the throttle for a split second then its fine. As random as it comes it goes then comes again. Fuel pump is noisey at times when clicked into the run position, but other then that I am just about to check the following.
Battery connection loose?
Injector harness wire cracked or about too?
Fuel Pump?
Like ynots said, it's a good bet you have a hole in the fuel line inside the tank. A good way to tell is if you have a half tank of gas or less you can hear it spraying against the tank when you prime the pump. Mine was so loud you could hear it with the motor running.
I just experienced a similar problem on my 06. On my ride to Algona for the fourth it kept cutting out and starving for fueling. Popping bad. I took it to the dealer when I got there and it was the fuel injector wires. You can look at the connector and wires all day and they look fine but the wire inside the sheath was actually broken and it was arcing. So the injector would cut in and out. When I would hit a bump I would have full power. My engine light was on for a long time and it ran fine until this. I let it go to long.
I suggest looking at the fuel injector wires again. If you can hold up the plug vertical and the wires just fall over on a couple of the pins, chances are they are starting to break.
