Been asking questions about the diffs between 88 vs 96, etc. Today rode an 06 Dyna Low Rider. Comparing it to last weeks ride on 07.
1. Much less vibration on 06, 07 was shaking into the foot pegs
2. 07 seemed quicker...
3. 06 - 3500 miles and 07-10k
4. 06 was lowered a bit and I am small so that was nice
5. a bit of a price diff, nothing huge
The front brakes on the 06 were lousy, kept squeezing and not much grab. Perhaps need to be bled or? Not sure with so few miles why brakes were spongy? Any ideas. Was not squeeling or non existent pads. Supposedly they are looking at that
If the 07 did not vibrate so much and had less miles, hmm. I guess i should be riding another 07.
You are really having a tough time with this decision! If it were me I would stick with 2007 if you are going to go with a Dyna and I would pass on the one you are looking at if it is shaking a lot. The spongy brake on the 2006 probably just has air in the line, easily fixed. I would still avoid 2006 on the basis of issues with that model year that have been reported in this forum.
I really am. But you are right, there is a lot of talk about 06 issues and this could be why i see more of these up for sale than other yrs. That may be a major clue.
I have an 06 LR and love it! Have about 14k on it now, IPB went at about 9k and HD did the full package (with my $100 donation like most others). Since the primary had to be opened, I had them go ahead and take care of the stator issues on my dime. Haven't had any other issues with it, runs great and smoooooth. Wouldn't trade it for any other.
