Default Mystery cable on 2012 Switchback

I've looked around and have seem some say this might be something to do with International models and is nothing on the U.S. models but want to be sure....What is this?

That's to charge the battery with a trickle charger.

Thanks for the reply. I am a Harley newbie and have to ask-is there a motorcycle trickle charger that I would buy to hook up to this cable? The trickle chargers I'm familiar with all have the traditional "clamps" to attach to the battery posts.

That will hook directly up to a Battery Tender (batterytender.com). I have the Junior model and it works great. You can buy online for less than $40 and I have even seen them at the local auto parts stores.

yep that plug is very common for battery tender of several brands. Since Battery Tender seems to to have a very good reputation, they actually build the chargers commissioned by the MoCo too, and given the accessible price, get for one of those. Just plug it in in that plu, no need to open the battery console or using clamps.

They're supposed to extend your battery life by a few years. I have all my bikes plugged in whenever I'm not riding.

Thanks to all of you who took the time to respond. I thought I had a Battery Tender somewhere, and after looking, found one I had purchased for my riding lawn mower battery a couple of years back and never opened. Yep, the Battery Tender had a fitting made exactly for that kind of cable! I'll be hooking it up when I get home this afternoon. Thanks again.
