I have a Arlen Ness II air cleaner, besides blowing it out is there any other way to clean these? Terry

Arlen Ness has a cleaning kit that you can buy. If you have the 'White" stainless steal filter, you will want to buy their SS Kit. I'm going to use a K&N kit myself. These filters have to be "Oiled" periodically.

Any local shop that sells Motocross supplies will have the cleaner and filter oils you need.
On the track we've always used White gas to clean them, and racing filter oils we pour into ZIP-lock bags, then insert the filter and close the bag once you squeeze the air out.
Then just massage the filter in the bag with the new oil.
Take it out and gently squeeze the excess oil out of it, which you can save and use again.
Also helps to place the filter on a screen and let it drip dry for a day, if you can.
We keep an extra filter in a bag with oil, which does not hurt to have on-hand during Summer riding.

Actually you should not blow air through it it is proven that you can damage the weave and trap particles in places where they ordinarily would not infiltrate. Use the kit WG mentioned which can be had for about 12$. The instructions will be on the box.

Ya these filters will not allow that procedure.

I saw a video on how to clean the SE Heavy Breather filter. There's probably one for yours too.

Well, I got tired of buying the silly kits for 15 bucks. I use carb cleaner that can be purchased for 1.99 a can. After I spray it with carb cleaner I hose it off and hit it with dish soap. I use a leaf blower to dry it and re-install. I really don't see the point in spraying oil on it when that's what the crank breather does the in the first place. I do this every 2500 miles when I do my oil change. By the way, I have the KN filter. Seems to work really well and costs almost nothing.

Dawn dish soap mixed with some 'Awesome', or a spray- on carpet cleaner works 'bout as good as the expensive filter cleaner K&N sells in their kits, on the cotton gauze type filters. Saturate, then let it sit for 10 minutes, rinse with warm water from the inside out- hang it up to let dry. Air filter oil should really be used to re-oil it, just a light application on the outside of the filter. Motor oil will muck it up, including breather blow by (re- route that crap out of your intake, man).

SOAK the whole filter in oil????????? Maybe in motocross, but not a street bike. I have never heard of this method before and would never recommend it. Not sure about pre 06, but 06+ filters will not let you squeeze anything out. You dont need any where near that much oil.

In a bucket with the cleaning soultion dip the filter in and out and swirl it like a "washing maching." After few times when you are ready to rinse, take a garden hose and from the inside of the filter have the water pour out. This will get any left over crap and sloution out. After filter drys you can spray the K&N oil on the filter till all of it is pink in color. Let it sit and check if you missed and spots (I usually do another quick once over).
