fast anther thing to think about is chrome costs... be looking around 175-200 to have the 4 1/2's chrome. now you are around $500 for your air shock set up, may as well go with off the shelf for that price, plus you figure new seals and gaskets as well and fluids for the tear down... tearing them down for chrome just does not add up unless you do chrome
Joe, do you know if the Monroe shocks (I believe you stated that you have these on hand) are the same diameter as the stock or better yet, the Burley slammers (what I am currently using). I would hate to invest in the parts to put an air ride system on my bike with my bags and for them to be to big to fit into the pocket I put in the bag for the shock clearance.
they are skinner if anything! def not wider... before everyone goes out and buys all this crap let me take a few swings and check how it works and rides... no reason to spend the money just for the ability to go up and down and have a **** ride. baggers are a good amount heavier so i want to make sure this set up will work on our bikes first... part of the reason i bought it all is i have a ton of buddies chomping at the bit to buy my stuff if it does not work for me hahaha

Definitely interested in how it rides. From all I've read I haven't seen any complaints and if all is well then it's definitely a great way to save some dollar bills versus the brand name suspensions. Got to love when people can make the exact same product, if not better for pennies on the dime. Goes to show you what some people are willing to pay just for a name.
Totally agree Joe, I have been in no hurry to buy anything. Took me almost 3 years to find my exhaust. Still haven't found the right apes, searched and search for the right stuff for my bag project. So, I would say the air ride is the way to go for me, it's also about the bang for the buck.
I need to go out in the garage and look to see what compressor I have be mine was mounted on the very bottom rear of the frame. You couldnt see it unless you really looked and made it easy to run the lines and power.
Took my set up off last month and will be selling it soon.
For a non-painted shiny shock, maybe strip the paint and then polish the chit out of them and then shoot clear??? Just a thought, don't know if it would work or how it would look.
After more thought on this, they make slip on chrome shock covers, maybe they have some in the size for these Monroe shocks-this seems to be the easiest/cheapest way to have a chromed shock, and this way if you have to replace a shock, you just swap the cover over to the new one.

i have several buddies over on chopped bagger... it was sugested for me. plus i ride with guys i have done this set up for in their baggers and road kings... i only used this compressor and had great results, plus it has 2 mount points so it is a bit easier to tie up. and tuck under the side covers with this style mount
i did remove all the decals on mine and shot it all gloss black, ill get pics up as i go. but this is 100% the compressor i would recomend
