Default Batwing Brackets

Has anyone used HD Quick Detach Windshield brackets to mount a Batwing fairing?

Thanks Mike, did you have to do much modifying to make them work?

I had my local indy make some sheet metal brackets to fit the MS fairing mounting points then
bolted the HD clips to them. I did this because (at the time) no one could positively state that
the MS mounting brackets could be successfully modified so rather than buy brackets that might
not work, I decided to spend the same amount of money (maybe less) having some made.

Since then I think several people have stated that they were able to adapt the MS brackets
but better research that yourself by going through the old posts before taking my word for
it. About 2 years ago there was a huge surge of interest in adapting fairings to the Dyna and
there are literally hundreds of posts and responses on the subject.

I used the MS Touring fairing (part MEM7011) with a 14" Clearview recurved windshield, relocated
turn signals and a 7" headlight.

I have no buffeting except in strong cross-winds and, if the windshield is not covered with bug guts,
no problem seeing through it rather than over it even in very heavy rain. It's now been almost two
years and over 10,000 travel miles (I don't ride locally that much), since I fitted it and am very happy.

I DO think that at speeds above 70mph the large windshield does start to slightly affect mileage and
at typical Western cruising speeds of 80+ I lose about 3-4 mpg. The bar-to-bar crowd usually makes
sneery comments about my mileage concerns, but when you're out in the boonies and it's easily 150
miles between gas stations, mileage / range is worth thinking about.

FWIW

Mike, many thanks, that's exactly what I was looking for. I'm considering buying a Batwing for my W/G. Just rode to Sturgis and back with the HD detachable windshield. It wasn't bad, but I figured a Batwing would be better. Again thanks for all the info.
