You sure it's going to work mounted under the dash? It's going to be shielded pretty good under there (I'm assuming the Street Bob dash is metal). RF and all, you know. I'd figure out a way to try it first before drilling holes. If you have alreadytried it, never mind and great idea!
that's a good point. i will try it first.

Another way of doing it, use a relay and tap into your high beam wire to trigger the garage door opener, makes it a little easier turning into the driveway with both your hands on the handle bars.
i just got done doing the bars and the last thing i wanna do is re-cut wires and re-run everything in the bars (and no, i didn't think ahead and leave a fish line in there).

I did the same thing... just go down to the dealer... they have the buttonsin stock cheap. You'll need both the switch and the rubberbutton.
you had any issues with transmitting through the dash?

maybe i will mount the transmitter somewhere....maybe under the seat?

i don't like the high beam thing either, kinda makes me nervous. i like the little switch in the housing but again, i don't wanna get into the wireing again.

You mean like this?

Here's a link to my project details: http://www.shareaproject.com/pages/p...,p,208,00.html

I can't remember if the part number is in one of the project steps. If it isn't, then I don't have it. Sorry, that was back in April oflast yearso I know I don't have the receipt. I would just go to the dealer andthe parts guys will dig up the number for you. You won't save any real money buying this online.

The range isn't great and the dash definitely shields the signal. But it works fine for me in the driveway and that's all I need. Taking that dash off is kind of a pain, actually putting it back on can be, so I would seriously consider running power to your remote like I did so you never have to worry about batteries. The other benefit of that is that I used switched power so if I had the bike parked outside, no one could open the door without the key.

I works great for me and I've been happy with it.

EDIT . . . . . I guess I was too slow with my post. I didn't realize Scott already mentioned it . . . . . EDIT

Kevin

You can get to the wire harness were it enters the frame. Remove the high beam wire from the connector, skin a little insulation off so you can solder a wire to it, cover it with a piece of shrink sleeving. I routed mine out through a hole in the frame under the tank to the remote and relay under the seat.

It works fine under the dash. That's where I mounted mine but I took a different route on the switch... I didn't need the second one (red)...

I bought the HD opener that is operated by the high/low switch. It works well and I guess it is only a little more secure than yours. My ignition switch needs to be on before it will transmit. Your setup is live all the time, meaning someone could open your garage if you left the bike out in front of the garage. I don't think that would be the case for me nor anyone else. Who cares if someone pushes the button when your garage door is 300 mile away? ...
