Question about the seat strap

Does the stock seat strap perform any kind meaningful function, like helping keep the seat attached to the bike better, or will it make no difference if I leave it off?

Don't really see how a passenger could hold on to the durned thing, unless they like to sit on their hands.

Nope. Its just there for the passenger to grab if she doesn't want to hold you...

well it definitely makes the seat a pain to remove.

+1 on that. First time I tried to remove the seat I was cursing and bitching so loud my neighbors could hear. Had to call in a friend with small hands to get a wrench in there for that stupid nut.
