I have the BCT monsters installed on v an h bss. Deep tone, sounds like pro stock drag car. Had FMoto 107, woods 555 cams upgrade. Dyno is 105 hp and 115 ft lbs. my tuner said I could gain 5 on hp and tq with FMoto 2-1 pipes, but that I would not be able to notice the difference. I like the BCT monsters a lot. They are very loud with bss Vance and Hines. If you want to be heard and noticed, this is a great combination. Have a friend with monster baffles on an 80 inch sftail heritage with short shots and he gets an entirely different sound, not loud or deep sounding as my set up. To sum it up, I would not change my pipes to gain 5 more hp and tq. The people at Big City Thunder are very knowledgeable and ship quickly. The guy who designed these baffles spent many years making and tuning exhaust for dragsters. He knows his stuff.
They(BCT'S) really did help my softail out when I was runnin' Samson Short Slashers which were straight pipes, no baffles, no low end and tinny sounding.
The BCT's gave it back the low end that I did not have with the SSS's and the "tinny metallic" sound was replaced by a low-er end rumble.
I loved em'!
They rivaled any 2-1 as well.
I found that out when I thought I might be missing something and went with a Kerker 2-1 Super Meg. It did not have much of if anything on the BCT's.
Highly Recommended!!
Yeah, I installed mine 6" from the shortest end of the pipe.
What do u mean by shortest end? So with staggered pipes, u wouldnt just measure 6" from the end of each pipe, but rather 6" from the end of the shorter pipe, then drill a matching hole at the same distance on the longer pipe? So one would be installed at 6" in the pipe, and the other would be 9" in if the long pipe were 3" longer than the short pipe?

It's measured from the end of each pipe. If you have slash cut pips you measure from the most forward part of the slash cut. With my short shots I had to measure out about 5 3/8 because the baffle hit where the pipe size got smaller. The minimum is 3 inches and they claim for max performance 6 inches. If you have longer pipes I'm sure you'll be fine at 6 inches. Measure each pipe separately.
I have BCT QQ's now and love them. I'm putting on TD's now and have bought another set of BCT QQ's for my new setup. Both are located at the end of my head pipes. Don't know if that makes a difference on what Jaron was describing but I'm not experiencing what he is describing. Only difference I see with QQ's is a bit deeper and a bit quieter. Still very loud.
BCT's shouldn't change back pressure from what any good set of performance aftermarket baffles provide. They just provide that back pressure while keeping things loud.
When people say BCT's improved performance it is compared to no baffles at all.
The end of your head pipe would be the end of my whole exhaust..lol!! Maybe thats why. I thought about using the stock baffle location, but I already had holes drilled for the BCT's. Maybe if I used the stock location I wouldn't have the problem. I think its just these shorter pipes. There are several people talking about the rasp and crap with the QQ's in the short shots. Of course I found the threads after I bought the QQ's. They sound a hell of a lot better with the cones cut off like the monster baffles. I still haven't got it on the road yet since I did it last night and I'm watching the kids now. Hopefully I'll get her out today and see the performance and sound gains people been raving about.

Het, thanks for the info. I have straight shots so they are longer than yours and straight cut, so I would he looking at just 6" from the end of the pipe. One last question tho...only because I'm trying to get a used set and won't have instructions with them....do u drill the hole at 6", or is the baffle supposed to start at 6" ?Splitting hairs here I guess, but if I am going to be drilling extra holes in my pipes, I want to make sure I get it right. Also, put the old baffle screw back in the pipe or leave it out?
As i remember it recommends that the "washer" dohicky is 6" from the end of the pipe. On slash cut pipes, measure from the bottom of each pipe as mentioned above.
