Why not get allot better shock.
A proven one.
Why gamble and possibly get let down on your expectations of a great shock.
You can find stock Dyna shocks all over Ebay.
Heck I still have my new take offs wrapped and still look brand new.

Where can I get a lot better shock for $100? I don't have high expectations for this purchase- I expect the exact same ride quality, just a little more clearance.

Obviously we all want a set of Works or Ohlins, but I don't have that kind if coin laying around. Just dropped big money on some medical bills, I've got wedding anniversary coming up in a week, a trip to New Orleans in October, then the holidays creep up...

Clearly there are better quality products, believe me if I had unlimited funds my bike would have a 120r in it, not a 96ci. We all have to work with what we've got.

I'm very intimate with early xl models. I rebuilt my 69 how many times, those look identical to the 3 sets of xlch shocks I have on the wall only with powder coated springs. early xlch springs where 14" eye to eye

Yeah I atually came across those. Looks like someone beat me to it. I seem to see more of those getting sold used than new, which to me means they aren't worth the money.

Go with the 444's, just installed a set of heavy duty 12.5" 444's. For the price go for those over a set of possibly 30+ year old shocks for a lighter bike...

I understand the financial situation you are currently facing. But throwing a hundie at a set of shocks that several "buyers" swear by or give the five 5 stars to, is somewhat worst than just saving the money to later buy a better set.

That picture, to me, shows the shocks are no less than 14" eye to eye. Which sends the "ebuyer beware" chill up my spine. But it is your money, and your time, and your return mail costs if these don't work out.

Get a set of stock bagger air shocks. I blew the seal out of my FXDX shocks. I had a set of bagger shocks laying around, so I installed them. They're going have to do until I get the $'s
