First congrats on a nice upgrade... The Dyna definitely is good for 2up riding, but I doubt very much the Badlander is going to make your wife very happy(or you for that matter)
Have you tried it out yet on any long rides or is the bike just going for short hops?
She used to ride on my Kawasaki Ninja ZX6 without any problems. The badlander is a hard seat, but it's more plush than the Ninjas seat. Shes a trooper and likes the seat.
