So I am getting an abnormal amount of noise coming from my bike and I'm thinking it’s the lifters going out. But I just replaced the lifters when I put in new cams about 8,000 miles ago. So I am thinking that I may just need to get a set of adjustable pushrods and throw those in there and see if that fixes anything.
My question is how do you install adjustable pushrods? Right now I have the SE perfect fit rods that BTW I don’t know if they are installed upside-down or not. Yes I said that. Basically the SE rods have a rounded end and a tapered end, the stock ones have 2 rounded ends and the SE ones came with no direction on what way they go. Thus furthering the wondering of what my problem is.
Also if I need new lifters what brand do y'all recommend? Like right now I have HD stock ones but my bike is rather modified and pushes 97hp at the wheel. So should I be running something different and if so what?
I have the SE adjustables and still have a little more noise than I would like, but it runs good and seems fine.
I would think your tapered end would go towards the top...that is where most people see the rods hitting.
Personally I would like non adjustable pushrods. Only reason I installed mine was because I was hunting down a noise...which turned out to be the cam gear rocking on the crankshaft. It actually wore the end of the crank and I had to shim it.
I still hear some ticking but I believe it is normal for the 37h cams I have...plus I run a windshield so that makes it more noticeable.
I know ticking is normal and that is all well and good. but this is more than normal.
like i got used to the norm tick sound but then one day i noticed it got louder and figured something has to be off.
