Default Strange Fall Away

Had my 2012 Fat Bob in the air today to do a clutch adjustment. While it was in the air thought I would cheek Fall Away. Turned it to the right (as if you were setting on the bike) about an inch and it would fall on its own. Turned it to the left and it was about six inches before it fell. Never checked this before so I'm not sure if that is common or not. I can see that some adjustment is necessary. Question is why would it be so different side to side?

Was your clutch cable still attached to the lever? The stiff cable makes it harder to get an accurate reading

Yep, all cables removed to get an accurate fall away.

Didn't even think of that. Probably the reason.

It's the procedure in the shop manual to see if your steer bearing needs adjustment

No problem...and it is part of your 1K service...if you have it done at the dealer make sure they do it. Mine said they don't usually do it until I showed them my owners manual. (I got the 1K service included with my bike)

Every 5K afterwards

I'm betting that most dealers don't do it, or they don't do it correctly. I'll bet they just go by 'feel' and if it 'feels' like it needs adjusting they just slap a wrench on and tighten it.

My bike was making the 'clunk' sound when hitting minor bumps, and that was before I had 2000 miles on it.

This shows the steps needed prior to doing the fall away test. I couldn't find the second half of the procedure??

Hmm, my bike has doing this since I brought it home almost 700 miles ago.
