Anyone successfully gotten these installed on a street bob? I'm having a hell of a time, as the rear bolts for the fender don't seem to be the right size.
I put them on a 2012 street bob. You'll need to take out the fender bracket on the inside of the fender and drill them out. I believe I used a 3/8 drill bit. I'd double check the size before you drill though. Then they should slide right in. Good luck!
When I called cycle vision about it, they told me the mounts were made with the HD turn signal relocation kit in mind (part of the kit includes replacing the fender support bracket). I didn't want to pay 100$ for a bracket so I just widened the holes in the stock one. Once I did that, they slid right in and have been working just fine. It was a quick adjustment but it should work.
I have a workaround
The strut bracket mount rear threaded hole is too small, I drill it slightly bigger and use the bolts that came in the package with nuts, no problem. Make sure the bolts are not too long, they might touch the rear tire.
what do I need to do to make the hole in the bracket bigger? Like what tools...
That said I'm gonna say again: this is the most idiotic design. You can't ASSUME people use that one harley kit (there are multiple!), especially when there isn't a single word about that anywhere.
Also, the bolts that go into the bags stick WAY into the bag. Makes them much harder to use. I'm probably gonna return mine.
Tools = 3/8" drill bit, a power drill, and some wrenches.
Wrench out the brackets, hold them down against a flat surface, and drill. Go slow and straight. The bolts do go into the bags quite a bit. One other drawback to this mounting kit is the fact that you can't lock down your bags to the bike.
I do appreciate how it takes seconds to take the bags off, though. If you do return them, I've heard that the ghost brackets and edge brackets are good to use for detachable bags. I do like this mounting system once I worked around the bolt size issue.
