Default How bad is it?

Has this happened to anyone else?

Thunderheader bracket bolts to the bottom 4 trans bolts. On a 400 mile day a few weeks ago they all 4 came loose. Lost the two on the bottom. Stud in rear managed to strip itself out, was just spinning in its hole. And the one up front, behind the clutch cable was backed out but not gone.
Well I managed to find replacements for the two on the bottom. Got a ball head Allen so as not to have to take off the pipe and got that faka as tight as I could with that Allen key (w/ some red thread locker). Tightened the front one back down and called it good. Been riding it regularly til yesterday when my homie spots one of those two at the bottom was gone again. The other was pretty loose. Got it snugged yesterday and bought a new bolt today. Dangit if that bolt hole ain't stripped out, too! And maybe even the other one of those bottom two...
So now I got two, maybe three stripped bolt holes! Do I, A. helicoil; B. drill and re-tap the next size up (not sure if enough meet on trans case for this; or C. replace trans case.

No good answers here... Think I can't ride my bike. DANGIT!

I would say

1. Try A
2. If it fails, try B
3. If it fails, try C

It ain't nuthin dealer mechanics all over the country haven't done. (strippin case holes)
I say A also, and once you've done that you've already drilled to the next size. So B, not an option. And C should wait until after a welder screws up the case for you while he's filling the holes to be re-drilled and tapped. Which should be C and C should be D.

Yeah, copy that guys. Thanks.

Got a good laugh, thanks fxdlx. So true, happens EVERYDAY, I'm sure...

Anyone recommend a solid Helicoil kit? Are they all about the same?

In order to access the holes in the trans case, do I have to pull the clutch to release the mainshaft and the trans side door from the housing? If I'm reading the manual right, looks like I do...

If you're referring to the cover where the clutch cable goes in, no you don't touch the other side of the trans. Just remove that cover.

Note that unless you drain the trans fluid you will have a mess.

No... I mean, If I have to pull the side door, will I have to pull the clutch? If I remember correctly, the mainshaft goes all the way through to the clutch and I feel like the clutch will need to be removed... I doubt I'll be able to set a Helicoil throught the side door and into the case successfully without removal of the side door. Amiright?

If so, what needs to be replaced while in there? I'd like to do a SE clutch spring. As far as circlips, O-rings, and gaskets though? All of the above?

Are you planning on removing the transmission from the frame?
