2007 Wide Glide - Opinons?
The engines are set to run lean from the factory, thus causing the heat issues. As mentioned, a SERT, pipes and free flowing air cleaner will eliminate the heating problem. The dealer download for the Stage 1 upgrade will still leave you lean. I don't know anything about the PCIII's but some folks seem to like 'em.
My 5th gear is noisy, but not all trannys make the noise. The noise lessens as the miles add up. With the Big Shot Staggerds, I don't hear it at all any more.
The WG is a good ridin', good handling bike, be it around town, or 600 mile days. You'll probably want to relpace the seat.
It's getting warmer out around here, went out riding today for the first time this year, sure felt good. Until I was pulled over that is.
- Ive got almost 6k on my 07 Bob and there is no noise in 5th or 6th that ive ever heard. Infact i havent heard of any Dynas w/ the infamous " Rocks in a can " noise that the baggers have. The trannyon the 07' Dynaswere introducedon the06Street Bobso you wouldnt be running a 1st year tranny.I havent done the stage 1 soI cant tell you if opening it up will cool it down. I do run synthetic and the dealership says that that alone will decrease operating Temps.I rode to work in August with shorts and it was 104 .... and at a stop light thats over 30 secs long its pure hell w/ that heat coming off the engine. I feel it MUCH more than I ever did On my Sportster . Buy the Glide !
Got a great deal from Chicago HD in Glenview IL by the way. I shopped it around to I believe 5 dealerships in the chicagoland area and they had by far the best deal.
And seriously, abig thanks to everyone who contributes to this forum, it's been an excellent resource for me. It felt great walking into dealershipsoften times knowing much more about these bikes than the sales staff. ( I think it made them nervous ) Except the excellent folks at Chicago HD.
Anyway thanks again!
If you've spent more than 10 minutes reading about the various models up on Harley's website, you'll probably know more about the bikes than most HD salespeople. In my opinion, the real salespeople actually study up on the bikes, learn the tech details and spend a little bit of time browsing these types of forums. The rest are nothing more than order takers who troll the salesfloor looking to see how much chrome they can sell to a first time Harley buyer.
