Hello all! I'm considering the purchase of a 2007 Wide Glide. I've been reading comments about some of the other 2007 HD's and hear the 5th gear on the new 6 speed tranny is noisy. I also read that the new TC96 engine runs much hotter than the former TC88. But most of these complaints seem to come from Electra Glide riders, and it appears all that fairing, particularly the lower fairing has a lot to do with it. They seem to reflect some of the noise and not allow a good air flow across the engine.
I'd like to know if anyone has had any experiece with the 2007 Wide Glide and if exhibits any of the above issues or even other issues? I like the changes HD made with the whole 2007 line, which is why I wish to pick one up, but at the same time I want to avoid buying a potentially problematic first year run bike.
I am considering the same purchase and it would be good to hear the opinions of all you 2007 Dyna owners. Does the engine run hot? Is fifth gear noisy? Is the 6 speed trans as smooth as the old 5 speed? How do the 6 gears match to the increase of engine size to 96ci? Any input would help as it would be easy to pick up the tried and true TC88 if there are legitimate issues with the '07 Big Twins.
don't have an '07 WG but do have an '06 with a 88 and a 6 speed. also have an '07 UC with a 96 and a six speed. the '06 and '07 dyna 6 speeds are the same. i don't have problems with either bike. course i did do a SERT on both, so it there were tuning issues with the '07 map (that was what the recall was supposed to fix), I solved it with the SERT and a dyno run on the '07.
i wouldn't worry about it. the new wide glides rock, and you'll really enjoy them.
Thanks Gman. Yeah I read about the recall map HD issued, wasn't sure to what degree it improved things.
I'll of course try to test ride one as soon as this crap weather lightens up. (I'm in Illinois and it's 23 degrees and snowing right now.) I'm seriously looking forward to picking one up, just want to make sure I do my due diligence first.
Sethman, I've got an '07 Superglide and have read alot about the issues you speak. The '07 Dynas don't seem to have some of the tranny noise that the baggers do. Fifth gear is a straight cut gear so it is naturally going to make more noise but I haven't noticed it myself and neither have some others. The six speed trannys had some problems in early '06 but seems to have been fixed after the initial '06s came out. The 96 does run hot due to epa fuel mixture settings but with aftermarket pipes, A/C, and fuel management system (Fuelpak, PC, and others) it cools it down. I'd say go ahead and get it as soon as weather permits.
I had an '07 Low Rider. Yes the engine can get rather toasty in slow traffic but no strange tranny noises or any other mechanical problems. '07 Dynas are on my "Highly recommended" list.
I have a 07 Wideglide and never had any complaints. I upgraded the exhaust with a Vance ad Hines BSS and added a PCIII for fuel management. It is listed for sale in the classifieds, currently showing 702 miles.
Have an 06 Wideglide with no issues at all. Not sure about the new motor...But havent forund any problems at all with the 6-speed...Buy it, You'll love it
