well i can tell you that if he pulled the baffles from the pipes he knew he did it, it is not a 1-2-3 job, i have done it now about 9 times and each time it takes me about an hour. i have to use a cable and slide hammer after letting the bike warm up for a good amount of time.
Machiavelli i would sugest going with the Big City Thunder (BCT) baffles. i installed them and they did sound good, personally i liked the stock better but most of my buddies all loved the way it sounded with the BCT, i just would rather a more Tuned sound then just loud as ****
Thanks everyone! I didnt realize they came with different baffel options. In fact the guy told me they didnt have incerts because of the radius (and only the straight pipes had incerts) Maybe I confused an insert with a baffel?
I dont know but I feel alot better about it now, as its also possible that, (that bike) had some other modifcation ot the exhaust not visable.
Sooo - Did you get the "Big Radious" or the "Big Shots". Both are 2 into 2. And they only make the Quiet Baffles for the "BS".
So I should be picking up my new WideGlide later today or tomorrow!! Was at the dealer yesterday and had him order a set of V&H 2 into 2 and then he proceeded to talk me into the Stage 1 - HD remap and K&N filter to open it up. (Was going to wait a bit and get the V&H fuel pack and an RSD AC, but he basically gave it to me.)
After he ordered it I started BSing with some of the other guys and as it turns out there was a 96ci dyna outside with V&H 2 into 2 on it. He started it up to let me hear it. Must say I was blown away by how loud it was, I mean I like loud pipes but damn! Said the 103 would likely be louder.
As you can imagine Im not sleeping too well, and in that spare time thinking about the bike, and how loud it was, and how Im going to be even more deff then before; and about how Ill definatly need to wear earplugs if going more then 15miles or so.
So in my spare time Im now 2nd guessing the V&H 2 into 2. Not sure I like the idea of wearing ear plugs.
I guess my question is am I just remembering this wrong? and is there anything you can do to a V&H 2 into 2 to quite them down just a bit.
I have had short side cuts on a sportster in the past, but this was significantly more thunderous.
I recommend ear plugs if you have a full face and you spend much time over 65mph. They can reduce the amount of hearing loss and help hear other vehicles. I ride an hour one way to work between 70 and 80mph and having loud pipes actually makes me tired too, so I wear earplugs and crank on the throttle when I pass someone on a cell phone!

Why do you say that? Would a half helmet be less hearing loss??
I run the stock baffles in mine and have never had a problem with them with the police or neighbors. That being said they will get noisy when getting on it that is why in the neighborhood and meeting the police I stay out of the throttle just a bit.
