So I should be picking up my new WideGlide later today or tomorrow!! Was at the dealer yesterday and had him order a set of V&H 2 into 2 and then he proceeded to talk me into the Stage 1 - HD remap and K&N filter to open it up. (Was going to wait a bit and get the V&H fuel pack and an RSD AC, but he basically gave it to me.)
After he ordered it I started BSing with some of the other guys and as it turns out there was a 96ci dyna outside with V&H 2 into 2 on it. He started it up to let me hear it. Must say I was blown away by how loud it was, I mean I like loud pipes but damn! Said the 103 would likely be louder.
As you can imagine Im not sleeping too well, and in that spare time thinking about the bike, and how loud it was, and how Im going to be even more deff then before; and about how Ill definatly need to wear earplugs if going more then 15miles or so.
So in my spare time Im now 2nd guessing the V&H 2 into 2. Not sure I like the idea of wearing ear plugs.
I guess my question is am I just remembering this wrong? and is there anything you can do to a V&H 2 into 2 to quite them down just a bit.
I have had short side cuts on a sportster in the past, but this was significantly more thunderous.
Are you sure the ones you listened to had baffles in them? I have 2in2 on my Deuce and I also have them on a chopper with an S&S 107 and neither are THAT bad. I mean the 107 is a little louder than the 88, but not loud enough to be a problem.
No we have to remember that it's all relative and it depends on your frame of reference, but I'm not particularly fond of overly loud motorcycles and neither of my 2in2 are really what I consider loud.
I would ask if the baffles we in the set you listened to, if you don't know already.
I have the 2-2 big radius and I too dont think they are that loud. They are no quiet by any means, and have a nice growl when you get on it but when crusing they calm down and the wind is louder in your ears than the pipes are by far.
as stated with stock baffles they are not that loud, actually have a really nice sound to them, i ran BCT baffles in mine when i had them and that did make them a bit louder
I too thought the stock baffles were a little on the Loud side and I ordered the Quite Baffles and they are just perfect for me. Dont **** off your neighbors and these quite baffles are no where near quite. Check out this guys video that compares Baffles.
Thanks everyone! I didnt realize they came with different baffel options. In fact the guy told me they didnt have incerts because of the radius (and only the straight pipes had incerts) Maybe I confused an insert with a baffel?
I dont know but I feel alot better about it now, as its also possible that, (that bike) had some other modifcation ot the exhaust not visable.
I had stock pipes for 5 months and got the V&H BR 2-2 and thought the same thing. And I thought, here come the loud pipe tickets. But I've had the police and sheriffs all around me and they've never looked my way. Going from 1 to 4 gear, they're a little loud and if you get on it, they're pretty loud. Crusing, they're okay.
Write to Big City Thunder and get the QQ baffles. I THINK that's the ones for these pipes.
