Default Oil Changing Question

So I have a 07 Superglide. The bike is lowered and also has an oil cooler. The dealer told me its supposed to take 3 qts so I added the 3. Well after my owners manual arrived from ebay I read it should take 2.5 qts. When I check the oil when the bike was cold with the jiffy stand the oil mark is a tad over the hot line.

If the bike is lowered does this affect the reading somehow? I saw guys on here saying it would but I cant see how this would affect the reading because the bike is dropping horizontally equally pretty much.

I am not getting any blowout at the air filter.

I know the oil cooler may take some extra so if the manual is telling me 2.5, 3 qts may be what it should take. I told the dealer it had a oil cooler and he said it may take 3.5 qts, well i tried that and oil was flowing out so I ended up tipping the bike sideways to get the half qt out.

If the bike is lowered, you need to purchase the extended dip-stick !!!

Sorry, couldn't resist. Just put in the amount required by the book. Then check it HOT.

I wouldn't worry about not getting a good reading because the bike is Lowered. Id do a hot check (let it idle a minute before shutting down) and if its over the full mark I'd take some out. Your bike takes 2.5 qts on a refill + what the cooler holds if it drains when you change it

On my 02 and 05 Dyna's , both with oil coolers, I put in 2.5 qts. for the initial refill. I start the bike and let it run a few minutes, then shut it off. After sitting while I do the clean up, I check the oil level. I add to the level of about 1/4" below the full hot line. No blow by in all the years I've owned these puppies. This works out to about 2 3/4 qts.

I generally put 2 qts in, warm it up, check it, then add to where it should be.

With a six row oil cooler I hardly notice any difference just 2 1/2 qts.

With a lowered bike and the original Jiffy stand, the bike sits at a different angle. This will give you a different reading on the dipstick. Not enough to be 1/2 qt out though.

The original owner I bought the bike from said that lowering the bike doesnt change the geometry of the motor.
