A/C recommendations?
Ya most of these filters do not come with a "recharge" kit. The manufacturer wants you to spend the extra money on the kit. However, these filters DO come precharged with oil. So it isn't necessary to oil a new filter.
I wondered if maybe it was pre-treated but couldn't be sure, so I hit it lightly again with the spray oil and let it set a few minutes to soak in a little.
Nowhere on the instructions did it say it was already treated, that would of been handy to know!
Thanks...I guess I'll know from now on.
Oh, and FYI, if you change both the pipes and the intake for more free flowing parts.... you will probably need to also install some sort of EFI remapping device, i.e., Power Commander V., EFI tuner, or the likes.
Lots of choices out there so you will need to do a little research for what suits your needs best. The experts I spoke to (and also read up on in this forum) sugest that if you are doing just one side of the air in/out then no remapping needed, doing both will cause you to be to lean without it and that is not good.

Do a search on this forum...not too many good things said about them.
Is anyone running the DK Customs Smooth Chrome PRO BILLET Stage 1 Air Cleaner Harley Twin Cam ? If so any pics?
I have a heavy breather on mine and even with the rain cover it works great. actually runs better with the cover on. I have always been a fan of the S&S air cleaners as well. You can get a K&N filter for them and they sit nice and close to the bike. Still flow a good amount of air.
This. K&N made intakes for our H-60s in the desert. Had to wash them every 3 - 4 days depending on flight hours. Oiled the crap out of them and they always collected everything.
Right above the gunner window.

Please don't listen to idiots like this. If you don't clean your filter, your engine can't breathe.

Well, I don't know. My air filter does not look much like the one in your picture and besides, I'm pretty sure the topic on this forum is street ridden motorcycles, not desert operated helicopters. There may be a slight difference in the operating environment and the cleaning requirements.
I seriously doubt if any Street Harley will see as much dirt in it's lifetime as that H-60 sees in an hour.
Apples and Oranges.
Even K&N says not to clean the filter too often. http://www.knfilters.com/faq.htm#4
You might be an expert on helicopter air filter maintenance and you might not be an expert on motorcycle maintenance. You absolutely don't know anything about me. I might not be an idiot.
