I'm still looking for a beat up battery cover than I can wrinkle paint or rough up for black.
I did fix the brake light though. It ended up being the relay after all, but damned if I've ever seen a relay fail like this one did. It still closed the circuit and passed correct voltage to the bulb, but something funky was going on with the ground in the relay and it was feeding a residual amount of voltage to ground. That was the culprit. After about four hours total of multimeter work I swapped the ignition relay with the brake relay just for kicks. And it worked. Gotta love that "I'm an idiot" feeling.
A bit of thread necromancing here... The bike has come along nicely. I took a break while I built a stroker 347 for the Mustang, but that project is wrapping up so it's back to the FXDP. I fooled with modding the stock police bags and seat setup but there's no way I can ride with that seat. I test fit the bags only with my current setup and they just don't look right.
I think I'm going to put them up for sale. Bars, bags and seats if anyone is interested.
Thanks! I'm looking for one right now. Overall the bike needs a little TLC, but I got an extra tank and a black dash for the speedo/tach as well as the cop hard bags with the deal. If I can get the brake light working I'll be off an running with the rest of the project.
reviving this thread... I just got my pops 2003 fxdp up and running and the body work needs some TLC. I read that you have an extra full tank, are you interested in selling that?
