I lost my key. I have been looking it for two days but I still can't find it.Do I have to change the whole key box or can I just get a new key? How much does it cost ?
You may have to buy an ignition off of Ebay, or contact a locksmith to see if the price is better.
If you would have lifted the plastic cover off the key itself you would have been able to copy a number stamped in the key. Just a word to the rest of the people that read this thread. Stick a copy of the number somewhere safe at home incase this ever happens to you.
Did you buy the bike new? The keys are numbered on the tab under the plastic cover, this number may be written in the purchase paperwork or the owners manual, ifso your dealer can order new keys using the number and some proof that you own the bike in question. I don't know if the dealer can cross the VIN# to the key number through HD records.
Well all u need is ur bikes VIN my sister as awsome as she is hi-jacked my bikes VIN and for christmas ordered me the skull collection key to my bike. Obviously no proof that it was her bike. Aren't big sisters kool...........
Lost mine in a parking lot in another city miles away from home. Looked everywhere, no luck. Was able to use my VIN # and get a new skeleton key cut ($65 +). Then by chance found my key at the return desk of the store latter on. Maybe yours will show up. Not to worry, a little "cash" and things will be right as rain again.
If you can wait for the keys, I paid about $15.00 for a pair when I ordered a couple of extra, just in case. If you're in for 1 key, better to get 2 made just in case. It took about a week or so through the dealer, you'll get them faster but for more cash locally. A good locksmith can make any key, barrel or non-barrel key.
