Default have a rattle / noise

I seem to have a rattle coming from the front of my wide glide.
I checked the heat shields even though I didn't think it was them because the rattle is too deep sounding.
tapped my knuckles all over the front fender and up front where the regulator is and nothing.

oh, and one more thing. It seems to only occur when I have backed off the accelerator. IE. when I put a load on it
all is OK. But when I back off and kind of do a low cruise about 25 to 35 let say going down hill, it starts up.

any other ideas
thanks

Not to hijack your thread, but I have an '05 Wide Glide and just recently there is a slight rattling coming from the front/side. Like you, I've tried to knock around anything that could be considered loose coming from these areas, but nothing. It seems to only happen when going from 1st to 2nd and in increasing the throttle.

Any other thoughts for either of us?

I would just go over and check as many of the bolts as you can to eliminate something minor like that. It does sound like something has just worked it self loose over time.

I also have a look at the front motor mount even though you describe it as a "deep sounding" rattle.

I'll definitely check these out tomorrow. It sounds like it would be well below the tank (exhaust heat shield?) but I'll see if anything seems loose and I'll check back here. Thanks again!
