Inner primary question
...
The OEM parts finder at Granite State H-D shows the following inner primary covers for 2010 Dynas:
60777-07A INNER COVER ASSEMBLY, FWD, Black Wrinkle, Fat Bob
60789-06B INNER COVER ASSEMBLY, MID, Silver, Super Glide
60790-06B INNER COVER ASSEMBLY, MID, Textured Black, Street Bob, Super Glide Custom
60791-06B INNER COVER ASSEMBLY, FWD, Textured Black, Wide Glide
60800-06B INNER COVER ASSEMBLY, MID, Black Wrinkle, Fat Bob
My 2014 parts catalog is much simpler:
60790-06C INNER COVER ASSEMBLY, MID, Textured Black, FXDC, FXDB
60791-06C INNER COVER ASSEMBLY, FWD, Textured Black, FXDWG, FXDF, FLD

Yeah the hole goes all the way through. Lots of them do in fact :P
It's def 60681-06A.
If I were you I would not swap outer primary covers with a pre-2014 bike. Not even sure you can obtain that plastic piece separately from the kit, and if you could, I wouldn't want those parts in my primary cover waiting to vibrate off or break free and cause havoc.
Edit: Apparently you can get the retro-fit kit separately. PN 11100088 MSRP $39.95. But like I said above I'd want a 2014+ outer cover with the cast in oil deflector instead of that mickey mouse plastic tray and metal clip setup.
I am planning to replace the clutch and spring on mine when I do a 107 kit (probably an AIM VP series or a scorpion) and was going to change the comp. to an SE, but like I stated, a friend of mine said mine already was an SE thus no need to change it.
And why??? is the MoCo comming out with this wonked out looking cheesey piece? I'd want at least a couple of set screws and a metal pan if I were to do this mod period..

You are correct in that the SE compensator is stock in newer models (I believe 2011+). Let's call it the 2011-2013 version for simplicity. It's been around since 2008 and has had a revision or two. It suffers from lack of oil getting to its inner splines which causes fretting and premature failure/noise. In MY 2014, Harley introduced a new SE Compensator, new part #, that this oil tray is for. It's completely redesigned to get oil to its splines.
You can see the new one here: http://www.harley-davidson.com/store...in-compensator
I doubt the tray would do anything for your SE compensator that came with your bike.

The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
Both my outer and inner primaries are now up for sale if anyone is interested.
2010 Fat Bob 60777-07B PRIMARY HOUSING, INNER, BLK WRNKL | GY
2010 Wide Glide 60791-06C INNER PRIMARY HOUSING (black) | GP
2010 Street Bob 60790-06C INNER COVER ASSEMBLY (GY4 & GYM-MID) (textured black) | GN/GV/GX
2010 Super Glide 60789-06C PRIMARY HOUSING, INNER, SLVR | GM
2010 Super Glide Custom 60790-06C INNER COVER ASSEMBLY (GY4 & GYM-MID) (textured black) | GN/GV/GX
Kind of hard to tell from that since they're all different colors (except for the Street Bob and Super Glide Custom)
I'm not 100% sure, but my research seemed to indicate the models with stock forward controls had inner primary covers that did not have a tunnel/hole where the mid controls would normally go.
I'm interested in finding out for sure. I'll be installing forwards on my new Street Bob and will probably end up replacing the primary cover(s) at some point.
Thanks,
Bob
