Key fob reeking havoc?
2007 Streetbob-
I was riding, bike was working fine. Came down Hard from a wheelie. rode fine to gas station, after fueling up the bike wouldn't start. wouldn't push start either.
gauge and headlight would only flicker off and on. took fob battery out to swap with new one and noticed a loose part inside the fob. Held part in place and still nothing. put a new battery in, still nothing. we then restarted the fob through some video-game type code entered by using blinkers and ignition positions.
Bike started up! Now the weird part..
After an hour of riding, bike turned off, started up again after lunch. on the way home the bike started sputtering very hard, lost power a couple times but didnt die until i pulled over at an idle.
Throttle response is delayed or non existent, I barely made it home, had to keep it at mid range rpm going about 70. couldn't drop rpm's or it would sputter very hard. needles to say it was very sketchy on CA 91 freeway.
CAUSE OF PROBLEM? A buddy suggested that canceling out the key fob did it.
another buddy said i may have fried my coil.
Another buddy said i may have messed up my fuel pack.
(Also note that my oil is low. i was told my bike doesnt have a sensor but just thought id state that) my mistake, i know. dont need more grief for that .. thankss
ANY SUGGESTIONS?
-battery connections....can loosen up, especially doing stunts as you described, it appears you have already addressed this.
-Fuel Pack...never had one, but a loose connection there could cause havoc. Also read where they don't respond well to shock..
-FOB....had the exact same symptoms you described twice on my previous bike. Once it ended up being the FOB, other time it was a loose fuse. Check your fuses for a tight fit.
Can you imagine the trouble if you are on a road trip, and your bike just shuts down in the middle of the road at 70mph, just because your fob battery died? Or you drive by some sort of a radio tower and your bike quits because the interference overcame the bike's ability to constantly ping the fob?
I would *hope* HD's drivetrain engineers wouldn't be that foolish. *hope*
If you want to test it -- Start the bike, then wrap fob in a few full coverage layers of tinfoil and drive down the road. See what the results are.

Things to look at (some you already did):
-All battery connections
-Fuses - Use Di-electric grease
-Check TSSM - this is the security module the gets changed out with the TSM (Turn signal module) it needs to be standing straight up and down. It immobilizes the system if bike is tilted or laid down (tilt sensor). Due to you pulling wheelies it may be slanted or close to horizontal. This may very well be why you can start the bike when you bypass the security system.
-Check for Codes

Also, The check engine light does not come on when this happens.. if there were an error code to diagnose wouldnt the light be on?

I have checked all the fuses.
The TSSM seems to be in there nice and snug facing straight.
The bike idles fine for a few minutes, it will hiccup then either die or continue to idle. When i go to ride it up the street it cuts out badly, and throttle response is delayed a couple of seconds.
any other ideas?
