It is a different case than 05's and it is not the 6 speed upgrade they put in
previous models.
But I am not expert enough to know what all they changed.
Well right now it runs "jerky" or like it is missing at slow speeds
and I am not lugging it down. This happens when you are running at
15 to 45 mph and are on the level and not accelerating or slowing down.
It feels like it is missing or not getting enough spark.
Tech at dealer says it needs more fuel but they have no remapping
ability yet.
If it had a carb I could rejet it or open th elow speed adjustment
in 20 min for about 6 bucks.
For FI it is $150.00 a pop to experiment with fuel air mixture.
I like the flexibility of a carb even though you need to use the "choke".
I don't think that the cost of the bearing replacement is an issue, it wouldn't be with me. What I would find a royal pain in the *** is that the bike would have to be in the shop, tied up for at least a day every 15k if you ride alot. The MoCo is forcing you to go back to a dealer every 15,000 to get it replaced as I would guess it's not a home mechanic's project and would probably present warranty problems if you did manage to do it yourself.
While this may not be a real problem for those who wouldn't put 15k on a bike during the regular warranty period ( me included), I just have to wonder how much of a priority some dealers would put on this when you want to get the work done? It would seem like this would not be a high priority item, leading to even a longer wait to get it done.
Who knows, I could be wrong, but I'll keep my '04.

I have FI on my 05 FXDI and I am very happy with it. When my bike was new it was a bit jerky in first at 10mph but it haas improved with mileage (10,000 miles now). I like pulling the bike out of the garage and just hitting the start button.
I had an 04 1200r Sporty and the carb farting drove me nuts. Never could get rid of the farts even after stageI and changing the slow jet.
I have a set of SEII Slipons and a Ness Big sucker with the Stage I download and the bike runs well. I am getting some decel popping but it doen't really bother me. I may go with a TFI/DFO next year.
