Another exhaust question
07 Street Bob, stage 1 with V&H Big Shots and Dobech TFI.
My first scoot was a Sporty 883 with drag pipes. Don't blame me, I bought it that way. But, I miss the loud pipes.
I have read a lot about the quiet baffles, BCT baffles, torque inserts, etc on here. I don't think the quiet baffles would quite get me where I want to be and I don't know enough about the Thunder baffles.
I was thinking about removing the baffles from the big shots and using the Torque Insert by itself. Would these create any/enough back pressure to keep me running right? I wear ear protection - more for wind noise that pipe noise.

Bct baffles work great. Had them in my straightshots and loved the sound and didn't lose any low end torque. I think you would be quite happy with them if u like louder pipes. A little more growl to them as well.

I would really like to hear the BCT on a bike. A little bit late in the season for bike nights around here though.
I read about the lollipops on here before but had forgotten about them as an option. Isn't that what the torque inserts are?

I am really happy with the sound and performance of my BCT original monster baffles. They really made the difference IMHO. I would make a video for sound, but videos of exhausts sound like s#*! and never really seem to give an accurate impression. I may give it a shot at doing a video just to see.
The bct are basically a lollipop design, but there is an actual outer baffle that they are welded to. If anything, I saw it as more of an advantage because the baffle itself tapered a bit in the middle, which to me would cause the exhaust to "speed up" on the way out compared to an open pipe. I don't know, I saw the extra value but to each their own. If u check u tube, there are a couple decent videos, but like irock said it's tough to get a good feel fir actual sound when it was recorded on a phone and played back on a computer. Every exhaust tends to sound exactly the same. If u want to get a good idea of what yours will sound like, just yank ur stock baffles out and fire it up. The sound will get slightly deeper with the bct, but at the end of the day it will be very close and u won't lose performance.
All good info here.
I didn't know about the torque inserts having the baffle with the venturi effect. Makes a lot of sense and I agree with your assessment on that Deuce. You might have just tipped the scales toward the inserts.

The patented "W" Series Thunder Torque Inserts will give you a nice bump in low and mid range power, they also will deepen the tone of the exhaust.
You can see them HERE, at that link there are some dyno charts also, down toward the bottom of each page.
You can read a full explanation of how and why they work better than lollipops and any other baffle available at post #18 this link- https://www.hdforums.com/forum/sport...r-power-2.html
