Default baffles?

Hey guys...i had more work done to my xbones...got an early christmas present from the wife...actually 2!!! (My roland sands vintage bars in black and a 95 Lightning truck!!)

Anyhow...ive grown use to the sound of my pipes, Hooker troublemakers, and they seem not to be loud enough for me anymore...i removed the baffles and it sounds killer...

question is, will i mess anything up? I know some people say you need some back pressure...would taking out the baffles affect me in a negative way? I really enjoy the sound but dont wanna mess anything up either!!!

All help appreciated!!!

try big city thunder monster baffles. you still get a little back pressure but they were much louder than my baffles that came in my big radius. do a search. alot of guys like them.

Don't wanna be your mom, but not loud enough any more to me means hearing loss. My employer checks my hearing every year and I've had some significant loss since getting my Harley. Don't know if it's wind noise or exhaust, but now, even on short trips, I stick in the ear plugs.

It shouldnt do any damage but i would put torque cones in at the least. torque cones go between the pipe and the head and create backpressure without affecting the sound like a baffle. No baffles and no torque cones will just kill the power on the bottom and mid-range areas.

no...my hearing is good lol

I meant not loud enough for me being that when your riding the wind takes alot of the noise ....at idle its sounds good but i just want it louder...i definately dont wanna loose any power though by not having baffles...

so what would be best...cones or monstor baffles? I want this thing to sound mean like it does with no baffles...

torque cones would be my choice, although ive never used monster baffles, any baffle is going to quite the exhaust noise.

here is a link to tucker rocky. You can obtain at any bike shop, harley shop, ebay, etc... prices vary but in my experience one is as good as the other. They go into the header pipe between the pipe and the exhaust gasket in the head

what they do is actually disrupt the exhaust flow therefore it does not flow straight out but bounces around in the pipe before exiting and creates backpressure. You will get a slight sound difference with them but no where near the quieting effect of a baffle
