Default Quiet Baffles vs. Standard Baffles

Hey everyone. I was just wondering which baffle will produce more low end torque, quiet or standard baffle in a pair of V&H sideshots? Also does anyone have experience with the sound difference between the two? Thanks in advance

Default RE: Quiet Baffles vs. Standard Baffles

I just changed out the stock baffles on my Vance & Hines BSS pipes to their quiet baffles. I read several posts that said the quiet baffles produce more low end torque. My initial impression after a short ride was that there is some improvement but it's hard to know if it's real or just the lower pitch sound from the pipes fooling me. I do like the sound better and it is running great. I'll do a little more riding today to see if I can feel the difference. I'm told the new baffles produce a little more backpressure which helps the low end torque. BTW, It was a piece of cake to remove the old baffles. I didn't have to remove the heat shield or pipes like some said. I noly have 3K miles on my bike so the old baffles slid right out. You just have to be careful when inserting the new baffles and lining them up with the screw hole. I pushed them in with a hammer and metal bar, with the fiber glass coating on they were a tight fit. I didn't want to push them in too far since I didn't think I could back them out very easily. I'd like to see a dyno run with and without the quiet baffles. Anyone got one?

There is a noticeable difference in sound at idle and cruising.
Still pretty loud when you gas it hard.
The difference in power is slight.

Thanks for the info guys. I think I will put in the quiet baffles now that I know. I like the fact that it will produce a hair bit more low end torque and deeper sound, also a tad quieter would be nice for those long trips. Don't get me wrong though, I like loud pipes

You weren't kidding marty about the quiet baffles being a tight fit. I had tore-tape the packing around the baffle tighter just so it wouldn't bunch up at the end of the pipe while inserting it.

Brock, did you notice the increase in low end torque? I did some more riding yesterday and am convinced the bike pulls better from low rpm with less chance for lugging. Now I need to take it for a long ride and see if that ringing in my ears goes away when I get home. I've had the 103 buildup from the 96 engine on my wish list since I got the bike but am starting to rethink that now that the bike is running so well. Seems like I have enough power to get in trouble now. This bike is sure a long way from that slow stock machine I rode out of the showroom last July.

Marty, I haven't been out on a run yet with the quiet baffles. They laid some more salt on the roads because it still is going down below zero at night. After a couple rains I'll report back on if I feel any difference.

Hey Marty. I was out today for a run and I did notice a bit more power in the lower range, nothing huge but there is more with the quiet baffle. Other then a really cold face it was a good first long distance run for the year
