Default bike jack lifting points

I got the Harbor Freight 1500lb lift open box plus 20% off for a pretty smoking deal, I was going to attempt to change oil and primary fluid plus primary main gasket to hopefully eliminate one drip today BY MYSELF but quickly found issues when sliding the jack under the bike so here are my questions:

A) can this be done by one person? (kick stand might need to be raised)

B) where do the jack points go under the bike? (the welded on skid plate seems like it is near the fulcrum point and might lean the bike to the opposite side)

I apologize if this has been discussed before, I did spend a considerable amount of time searching for a thread before posting this one

BTW if you noticed the neodymium magnets on the bottom of the frame, I got them from
video, and yes they totally work, there was a gate at my office that wouldn't open for me until I added the magnets

You are going to need to block it so you are lifting on the frame rails..not the bottom of the engine. Could use 2x4s to do it, or get the HD lift adapter for Dyna.

I've got that same jack. I found it quite wobbly with the bike on. I fixed that by sliding a piece of wood under the uneven side to level it out. You can operate it by yourself but it can be scary since it wants to rock a bunch. I found that taking one of the support rails off and moving it over actually helped balance the bike. You can do it without the wood, but it will rock like crazy. It would still be hard to knock it off the jack once you find the sweet spot but still, if you're going to be doing anything other than changing fluids, use a wood block. Also, it helps to leave the kickstand down.

I have the yellow HF jack. Moved the pads to the outside like in the video. I have 3 pieces of deck board cut to put under the frame to level it on the jack. Leave the kick stand down and put it in the center of the jack. It is scary the first couple of times when letting it back down, just check and be sure the kickstand is down and forward. Also helps to have a 2x4 under the kickstand to help level the bike. Just take it slow. Will advice to put straps on the bike to keep it from moving. Sucks when you are cleaning and almost push the bike off the jack...lol

You've got the jack to far back.

I set my kick stand up on a 1 1/2" block and the jack rolls right in now. I also slide a 3/4" piece of rubber I had in under the frame on the rear rail on the other side from the jack pump. Now the bike sits good a solid. This is on my 07 Lowrider
. If any body wants a pic of what I did let me know by sending an email to dwclapper@embarqmail.com and I will send

The Harbor Freight jack doesn't have the cross beam making the mod easier. I am not 100% satisfied with the jack. It gets the job done but feels slightly unstable; not horrible but I'm always concerned for my safety when using it.

I just ordered one of those scissor center lifts which I hope is more stable form small jobs. One day I'll get a table lift.
