I have a 2011 Wide Glide and I need advise. The stock seat was uncomfortable so I got a new one, but it didn't help. I'm 6' and was thinking forward controls might help. I seem to sit to far back and my tail bone hurts after every ride. Would moving the controls forward help? Love the bike but my ar$$ is killing me. Appreciate all the advise You can give me.
if you got a NEW seat it will take bout 1200 mile to break it in, i put a mustang wide vintage solo w/backrest on my dyna and that helped a lot, also try pulling the bars back a little, you may be reaching to far... forward controls will stretch out your legs and distibute your weight a bit differently and that could to your advantage or go against you... just a few thoughts
I don't know if forward controls would help. What kind of seat did you switch to? I have the HD pillow top seat and it is very comfortable. I've heard the sundowner seats are comfortable too. There is a company called Mean City Cycles that can modify your current seat and put memory foam and or gel in it to make the seat more comfortable. The website is meancitycycles.com
You already have forward controls. Your leg position on the forwards is allowing all of your weight to be transferred to your tailbone. You should go with mid pages or board so most of your body weight and bumps will be soaked up by your legs.
Ya, you've already got forwards. Any farther forward and you'll be on the axel.
I was having the same issue with my Saddleman Gel seat. Looked cool but hurt like hell.
I went back to the Mustang with a sheep skin. But this isn't a recomendation, everyones *** is differant. Sorry to say, You're gonna have to experiment my friend.
My 2011 wide glide seat was horrible and too far back. Im 5'10" and went with the reach seat. It moved me up a little but still hurt my tail bone. I removed the cover on the reach seat and cut a trench where my tail bone touches and put the cover back on. Its not perfect but it is 100 times better.
