License plate relo quesition
I got waist deep into pulling the taillights on my 2013 Street Bob for relo in order to install docking hardware when I discovered that I also needed a license plate relo kit. This was confirmed after additional research here. Unhelpfully, this was mentioned no where in the HD documentation when I started gathering items to do the job.
After thinking about it a while, I started wondering if the license plate relocation was really necessary, especially since I like it on the side.
It seems that the only thing requiring the move is that the bolt that goes through the fender to the taillight, which holds everything on, is too short by a half-inch or so. (Not 100% sure on that right now; I'll have to get everything out and measure if I try this.)
Is there any reason it wouldn't work to just get a longer bolt and leave the plate holder where it is? Would it be stable enough with the extra length?
I really like the clean look of the rear fender and don't want to clutter it with the plate and light if I don't have to.
